…is a hurricane is a series of protest signs, motivated by the countless signs created during the uprising in Puerto Rico in the summer of 2019. I reclaim the imagery of the hurricane, using a radar image of Hurricane María as it was passing over the island, and transform it into a representation of power, resistance, and revolt, not only to Puerto Ricans, but other marginalized communities I identify with, like the queer and disabled community.
