Photo Memories of the In-between, 2023

Photo Memories of the In-Between recreates a vacation photo album featuring moments and locations captured with a disposable camera, focusing on the journey between Puerto Rico and New York, entre aquí y allá. This project explores themes of belonging and migration between two places with a long history of movement, or vaivén. The central figure, wearing a blue tarp mask—previously used in past performance works and referencing the iconic symbol in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria—navigates various tourist locations within both regions. This transits serve as a process of belonging and mark-making.
